My Visit Summary:
I began my participation at IJCB 2025 on 8th September by completing my registration in the morning at the Grand Front Osaka venue. Throughout the day, I attended several tutorials, special sessions, and project presentations covering emerging topics in biometrics, such as manipulation attack detection, privacy-preserving techniques, decentralized identity, and safety issues in the cybernetic avatar era. This first day helped me gain deeper insights into current research trends and prepared me for presenting our own work during the conference. The paper was titled “FROQ: Observing Face Recognition Models for Efficient Quality Assessment.”
From 9th to 11th September, I actively participated in the main conference sessions held on the 4th floor of the North Building Tower C. Each day featured keynote talks by leading experts, including Prof. Alice O’Toole from The University of Texas at Dallas, who presented “Face, Body, and Person Identification in Real-world Viewing Conditions”, and Prof. Fumio Shimpo from Keio University, who delivered a keynote titled “Establishing Trust Infrastructure for Avatar Society: Biometric Authentication and the E3LSI Approach for Safe and Secure Cybernetic Avatars.” In addition to the keynotes, I attended oral sessions covering diverse areas such as face recognition, fingerprint recognition, biometric security and privacy, deepfakes and synthetic data, as well as multimodal biometric systems. These sessions helped me broaden my knowledge, explore innovative research methodologies, and engage with researchers from around the world.
In addition, I participated in poster sessions and engaged in discussions with other authors to exchange ideas and receive feedback. I also attended networking activities such as the Welcome Reception and the Conference Banquet, which gave me an opportunity to build professional connections and collaborate on future projects. Overall, IJCB 2025 was a valuable experience that enhanced my expertise, allowed me to contribute to the scientific community, and helped me grow my professional network.
